Centering

Song Adaptation: “Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star” (with the same melody as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
“Twinkle, twinkle Christmas Star,
Shining brightly from afar…”

Sharing: “Soon it will be Christmas… Let’s get our home ready for the magic to arrive.
What decoration do you love the most?
I really like the bright Christmas Star that goes on top of the tree.”

Session Discovery: Take a soft breath in… and a slow breath out. Let’s begin our Christmas adventure.

Warm-Up

Chopping the Christmas Tree – Partner Move
Children stand back to back.
They fold forward, reach between their legs, grab their partner’s hands, and gently rock forward and back like chopping wood.
“Chop, chop… we need the perfect Christmas Tree!”

Adapted Sun Salutation – Warming Up the Body
“I am a tall mountain
and a warm, round sun.
Now I become a silly gorilla and tickle my toes.
I place my knees down and turn into a soft, stretching cat.
Shhhh… now I’m a quiet little mouse.
I lift up into a happy dog and wag my tail.
Jump back to the silly gorilla, reach for bananas…
and grow again into a tall mountain.”

Part 1 — Decorating the Christmas Tree

Pine Tree (Tree Pose)
“Here is our beautiful Pine Tree. Stand tall, strong and steady.”

Baubles (Standing Side Stretches)
“Let’s hang shiny baubles… one on each side… and a few more up high.”

Tinsel (Side Angle Pose)
“Now let’s wrap sparkling tinsel all around our Tree. Swish… swish…”

Christmas Star (Upward Stretch)
“And now the final touch: the Christmas Star!
Can you reach high and place it gently on top?
What colours are your baubles and tinsel?”

Part 2 — Look Outside… It’s Christmas Everywhere!

Reindeer (Warrior II)
“Everything is covered in snow… and look! A reindeer is coming to say hello.”

Snowman (Yogi Squat)
“Here’s a friendly snowman. Can you squat down and make your round snow belly?”

Penguins (Penguin Walk + Dance)
“Do you see the penguins? What are they doing?
Let’s join their dance!”

If you wish, you can try this dance: https://youtu.be/uf0uKmKwnKs?si=-havjQgFLJc2slTE (Penguin Dance Brain Breaks Jack Hartmann)

Polar Bear (Downward Dog)
“Oh! A polar bear is watching us. Does it maybe want to play?”

Into the Igloo (Partner Tunnel)
“Just in case, let’s hide inside this igloo!
One child becomes the Igloo tunnel (downward dog), the other crawls in all four underneath.”

Part 3 — Santa Is Coming!

Santa’s Sleigh (Seated Forward Fold with rocking)
“Santa’s sleigh is here! Let’s hop in and slide in every direction.”

Christmas Presents (Seated Reaching in all directions)
“Let’s help Santa place the presents under the tree…
Reach up… down… to the right… to the left… behind you…
You are so helpful!”

Closing

“Hug yourself and send Christmas kisses all around…
Thank you for bringing so much magic today.”

Sharing Time:
“What present would you love to receive?”

Closing Ritual (hand on heart):
“The kindness in me sees the kindness in you.
Thank you for practicing yoga with me."
